Update on Divided New York Divorce!
Back in February, The Divorce Blog detailed a crazy and divided New York divorce case in which a judge ordered a couple to build a dividing wall in their home, and here’s the latest update. Weeks after a Brooklyn jury rejected Chana Taub’s claims that her husband Simon had cheated on her and was cruel to her, the wannabe divorce has now filed a new divorce suit in Manhattan Supreme Court. A New York Post story detailed that Chana Taub is filing for divorce on the same grounds in Manhattan and added the interesting comments of Irvin Rosenthal, her New York divorce lawyer who claimed that she will have a better chance at a fair trial in Manhattan rather than the “Hasidic community” of Brooklyn. Simon Taub accused his wife of “judge shopping” in the story.
Chana Taub originally filed for divorce in September 2005. When the divorce case stalled, Simon Taub asked a judge to build a dividing wall in the couple’s Borough Park brownstone. The judge complied, and the case quickly drew media attention as the dividing wall was constructed. Local media have dubbed this case Brooklyn’s “War of the Roses” after a movie based on a feuding couple in the midst of divorce. We’ll keep you updated on the latest developments with this wacky New York divorce case.
