Kentucky Divorce: Man Literally Adds Fuel to Fire During Drawn-Out Divorce Process

While the divorce process may be a stressful experience which “sparks” a lot of emotions, one Kentucky man seems to have let his divorce ignite too much frustration. David Chism is accused of burning and blowing up his home last week after learning that he had to pay some of his wife’s fees for her divorce lawyer.

In an exclusive interview with WHAS11, Chism said that his wife had collected $15,000 worth of divorce attorney fees since April of 2006 during a Kentucky divorce spanning four years. The television station also obtained an emergency protection order from his wife in which she alleged domestic violence and that her husband threatened to burn down or blow up their home. Chism acknowledged that he reached a breaking point last week and was sick and tired of his wife talking about “how rough her life” was while collecting so much money in divorce bills.

Chism added that he was trying to provide the best for his kids during the divorce. His wife declined comment for the story while arson investigators have said that Chism has acknowledged responsibility for the explosion. According to the story, the couple’s house was a major source of contention during their Kentucky divorce. Chism allegedly tried to line up a buyer for the house before his wife blocked this action. According to Chism’s divorce attorney, no dates have been set in the divorce case, which is now likely to take a backseat to the arson charges.
