Shared Custody Becoming More Widely Accepted
Not so long ago, courts were happy to award joint legal custody to parents who agreed to the arrangement, but frowned on the idea of shared physical custody. The accepted wisdom among child custody counselors and researchers had long been that it was most beneficial to children in most circumstances to have the stability of one fixed home. But the tide seems to be turning, at least in some jurisdictions.
